DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Week 51 of the Needs’ Year!\nThis week Joachim Berggren will have a conversation with Carolyn Davies about the need for Authenticity.\nCarolyn Davies grew up near Brisbane and began a career in television in the mid-’90s producing and directing documentaries for the ABC’s. In 2004 I discovered Nonviolent Communication and was blown away! It made a huge difference to the way I approached people and the demands I faced. I have been a passionate NVC practitioner ever since. I moved to London in 2005 and in 2014 I became a CNVC Certified Trainer. These days I teach NVC full-time. My training style is fun and participatory with an emphasis on practice.\nCarolyn writes: I chose the need for Authenticity because I am one of those people with slightly lower impulse control. I remember when I went to the Psychiatrist to be assessed for ADHD and learned that one of the positive attributes of people with ADHD, was our Authenticity.  \nAuthenticity helps me to navigate life. I have recently found myself in a bit of strife when I felt challenged by someone’s tricky behaviour. I had a couple of days of self-talk: “I don’t have to put up with this person if I don’t want to!” As I repeated this mantra to myself, I began to feel really good.
