SUMMARY:Community of Care – Roksolana Melnyk and Matjaz Kovse
DESCRIPTION:In a world that often asks us to adapt quickly, rely on ourselves, and navigate uncertainty alone, it’s easy to forget where true resilience comes from – our connections with one another.\nThis interactive session invites you to explore the power of community and the ways care is created through mutual giving and receiving. Together, we’ll map our personal support systems and reflect on how communities can become spaces of trust, acceptance, and nourishment.\nIf this speaks to you, we’d love for you to join us for a warm and thoughtful session of exploration and learning. Please bring a piece of paper or a notebook and a pencil to support the activities.\n\n[Workshop organised in the frame of Time for Empathy 2026]\nWhen: 7 March 2026, 16:30-18:00 CET (Berlin time)\nHow: ONLINE on ZOOM\nLanguage: English\nCost: Participating in the “Time for Empathy” sessions LIVE is, as always, free. However, if you would like to have access to the recordings, you are welcome to buy them – a special offer is available while registering for the event. Please note that not all workshops will be recorded.\nThis workshop will be RECORDED.\nNot willing to be on recordings? If you do not wish to be recorded, turn off your camera and microphone for the entire duration of the session. Recorded sessions will be available for purchase. We may also use parts of the recording for marketing and publicity across various media.\nRegistration: \nTo take part in this workshop, register for the “Time for Empathy” event here: https://www.empathiceurope.com/time-for-empathy/\nNOTE: Register only ONCE for the whole event and participate live in all “Time for Empathy” workshops organised between 1 and 8 March 2026.\n\nAbout the trainers:\nRoksolana (Roksy) Melnyk\nRoksy first learnt Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in 2014. That is when she discovered how once enemies (protesters and riot police officers during Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity) can reconcile and compassionately connect around shared needs.\nInspired by the impact of NVC, Roksy helped set up an NVC Centre in Ukraine and bring certified trainers from across the globe to share NVC with people fleeing and dealing with the armed conflict. She later went on to work for international social cohesion and human rights protection projects, where she promoted NVC as a tool for building a feedback-rich culture.\nNVC has been a huge support to Roksy in finding power in her experience of living in the country at war for more than ten years. In 2023, Roksy co-founded a local non-profit in Ukraine that makes it possible to translate her mission into concrete initiatives and projects on the ground. She also works as an empathic support expert for the project Empathy Ukraine and volunteers as a trainer for the NGO Hope is Life.\nMatjaz Kovse\nMatjaz Kovse is a Certified Nonviolent Communication Trainer. His initial motivation for studying NVC was rooted in social change and the weaving together of various emancipatory movements. Over time, his focus has expanded to include the transformative potential of NVC on both personal and interpersonal levels.\nHe has been a student of Sarah Peyton since 2022 and assists in her courses. He volunteers as a trainer with the NGO Hope is Life and is part of the project Conversations for the Heart, where he co-organizes free online community events with invited speakers – often NVC trainers – creating warm spaces for reflection, inspiration, and heartfelt connection within the wider NVC community.\n
