SUMMARY:Empathy. Q&A Session – Miki Kashtan and Isabel Ortega Caro
DESCRIPTION:We believe that empathy for self and others is a very potent part of NVC practices because of its power to build connection. We are excited to explore more about it together during the “Time for Empathy” event. This is the second year we are offering a Q&A session during this conference, because we liked what happened last year. We invite you to come with any questions you have!  For example:\n\n\nWhy do many of us sometimes not like it when others guess our feelings and needs?\n\n\nWhy is it sometimes so challenging to respond with empathy to what people say? \n\n\nWhy respond with empathy instead of just saying what’s true for us? \n\n\nWhat happens when we are in a cultural context where feelings or needs are not welcome?\n\n\nAnd if you are interested to get a deeper look at empathy and also have the capacity, we invite you to read from the Empathy for Self and Others: a Compendium packet, available based on gift, which can expand the range of questions you might want to ask. \nAbout NGL\nThe purpose of the Nonviolent Global Liberation (NGL) Community is “to integrate nonviolence into the fabric of human life through ongoing live experiments with truth focused on individual and collective liberation.” Our central inquiry explores how to liberate ourselves individually and collectively from patriarchal conditioning and rediscover what it takes for humanity to realign with life. See https://nglcommunity.org/ for more information.\nMiki Kashtan and other NGL members on the path towards CNVC certification will share about NVC from an NGL perspective. Miki will answer questions, facilitate the process of other people answering questions, and offer coaching on how to bring NVC to others – such as how you choose which bits to focus on, how much depth to go into and how much to potentially be with the person asking before answering.\n[Session organised in the frame of Time for Empathy 2026]\nWhen: 8 March 2026, 16:30-18:00 CET (Berlin time)\nHow: ONLINE on ZOOM\nLanguage: English\nCost: Participating in the “Time for Empathy” sessions LIVE is, as always, free. However, if you would like to have access to the recordings, you are welcome to buy them – a special offer is available while registering for the event. Please note that not all workshops will be recorded.\nThis session will be RECORDED.\nNot willing to be on recordings? If you do not wish to be recorded, turn off your camera and microphone for the entire duration of the session. Recorded sessions will be available for purchase. We may also use parts of the recording for marketing and publicity across various media.\nRegistration: \nTo take part in this workshop, register for the “Time for Empathy” event here: https://www.empathiceurope.com/time-for-empathy/\nNOTE: Register only ONCE for the whole event and participate live in all “Time for Empathy” workshops organised between 1 and 8 March 2026.\n About the trainers:\n\nIsabel Ortega Caro: After being introduced to NVC in 2019 she joined the nonviolent activism movement Extinction Rebellion where she deepened her knowledge and an embodied experience of nonviolence. This inspired her to drastically change her life by co-founding an eco-village project in Italy where she lived for 3 years, and started to apply NVC in how to make decisions, flow feedback and engage with conflict in community.  \n \n\nMiki Kashtan: Miki has been studying, integrating, applying, and sharing Nonviolent Communication since 1993. She has accompanied thousands of people in doing the same. She is an author, a practical visionary, and the mother of the Nonviolent Global Liberation community which functions fully within maternal gifting principles. She blogs on the Fearless Heart and has taught and consulted on multiple continents. \n
