Empathic Way in Organizations – Paulina Orbitowska-Fernandez
“Imagine connecting with the human spirit in each person in any situation at any time.
Imagine interacting with others in a way that allows everyone’s need to be equally valued.
Imagine creating organizations and life-serving systems responsive to our needs and the needs of our environment.”
— Marshall B. Rosenberg
I am wondering if there is anyone reading this description who is NOT longing for such systems and organizations?
Who, as an individual, wouldn’t like to enjoy more empathy, meaning, trust, psychological safety, inclusion, respect and dialogue in our workplaces, institutions, schools and communities?
And who, as a leader or owner of an organization, wouldn’t like to foster more:
– constructive interactions among colleagues, teams, and stakeholders,
– understanding, cooperation, and win-win solutions,
– efficacy within teams and across departments, self-driven and motivated employees?
How to do it?
Well, one of the ways is to apply Nonviolent Communication (NVC) principles.
Marshall Rosenberg used to say “It sounds simple but it’s not easy…”
and at the same time…
“You cannot cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.” – R. Tagore
During this session, you will:
– learn what empathy in the NVC is and how it can be used in organizations,
– learn why empathy matters and what it changes on a personal level, in our teams and the organizational culture,
– discover and focus, using one of the Liberating Structures (LS), on what you and others have the freedom and resources to do now. LS are easy-to-learn microstructures used to facilitate meetings that enhance relational coordination and trust. Let’s together start another way, an EMPATHIC WAY in organizations!
