Holding grief – how to create empathic space for mourning – Cinta Depondt
Many of us, and many around, us face loss: from the very tangible loss of people who passed away, a home or homeland we had to leave, to more abstract loss, such as loss of hope for the future of our planet, or loss of connection with people who were once dear to us.
When we experience loss, we grieve. Grief can come in many different forms and is best lived in a community. Yet reactions of those surrounding people in grief easily fall into the traps of ‘fixing’, ‘consoling’, or ‘comparing’. It can seem difficult to simply sit with what seems to be unbearable pain.
How can we create caring spaces in which grief can be expressed? How do we deal with our own discomfort and provide real support for those around us who experience pain and loss? Together we will explore these questions and practice holding space for each other.
Most workshops during “Time for Empathy” are not recorded, so the only possibility of participating is to join the session. The sessions that will be recorded, we will make available to others if the quality is satisfying. We may also use parts of the recording for marketing and publicity across various media. If you do not wish to be recorded, switch off your camera and microphone for the whole duration of the session.
NOTE: Register only ONCE for the whole event and receive access to all “Time for Empathy” workshops organised between 2 and 9 March 2025.
