Self-empathy, empathy and honesty – a series of free NVC webinars
Welcome to a series of free webinars introducing Nonviolent Communication (NVC). We will briefly go through three aspects of NVC – empathy for yourself, empathic listening to others and honest self-expression. In other words: how to discover what is going on in you, how to understand other people better and how to tell others what matters to you and what you want. We will share our knowledge and experience, and work on examples from everyday life.
To participate you don’t need any previous knowledge of NVC. You can participate in all three seminars or only in the chosen ones.
The sessions can be treated as an introduction to the online NVC Intensive Course starting on 7 October 2020. Everyone who registers will receive a discount code for this event.

In the first session we will look at self-empathy. As a human being we are often confronted with challenging messages: from family members, colleagues, friends, people we don’t know and different kinds of media. We can get angry, sad, confused or feel distressed in other ways. It’s helpful to know what is happening inside of us. In this session we will see how we can connect what is happening out in the world with our reactions and how to sort things out and come up with a possible solution to our inner state.
6 September 2020, 16:00-17:00 CEST (Berlin time)
In the second session we will learn how to listen with empathy to other people. Once in a while we meet people who are upset with something connected to us or others. It’s a good skill to be able to listen to people in this state. When people are being heard with empathy they can often enjoy life more and take action that will increase their well-being. In this session we will learn a practical way of listening to others with empathy.
7 September 2020, 18:00-19:00 CEST (Berlin time)
In the third session we will learn how to express what is important to us. Many of us have learned how to criticize ourselves or others when things aren’t going our way. We come up with judgements and what’s wrong. When we’re feeling upset there are things going on which are not in line with our values and our needs. In this session we will investigate how to express what is important to us without blaming others.
