Practical tools, mindful insights, and a weekly reminder to make more space for your needs.
Grow Personally. Connect Globally. Start Here.
Our human experience is shaped by our needs – physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual. These needs are essential for well-being and act like invisible forces, guiding how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. As we deepen our awareness and take responsibility for our inner lives, we shift from simply reacting to life’s challenges to intentionally co-creating our reality. This inner transformation enriches our relationships, strengthens our communities and contributes to a more connected and compassionate world.
About the Needs Space Weekly
The Needs Space is an online project that helps people fulfil their core human needs through awareness, reflection, interaction and consistent practice. In a world of conflict and polarisation, it offers a simple yet profound space. Space to listen to yourself. Space to explore your needs. Space to connect with others on the same journey.
The Needs Space newsletter is your entry point into that journey. It’s a weekly (at the beginning, monthly) dose of insight, structure, and support. Whether you’re curious about Nonviolent Communication (NVC), Integral Theory, or just want to grow with others, this newsletter is the place to start. Whether or not you’re a member of the online Needs Space project, which will start soon, this newsletter stands on its own – a friendly reminder to make regular space for your needs, every week.
NOTE: As the mailing list grows, the emails will be sent monthly. You will receive an email on the last Friday of each month. Help me reach “weekly” by sharing!

The author
Joachim Berggren
I work with groups and individuals who want to be able to communicate better and build sustainable connections in their family, with their friends, at their workplace and in the bigger community. I offer lectures, workshops, mediation and individual training online and in person. I came into contact with NVC in 2005 and in 2009/2010 I participated in my first annual program with Friare Liv (Liv Larsson and Kay Rung). I have participated in a wide range of NVC workshops both in Sweden and abroad. Since 2010, I have been sharing and teaching NVC myself. In 2017, I became a certified NVC trainer by CNVC. My main focus within NVC has been to teach the NVC fundamentals, community building and to organize major events, such as the European and the Swedish NVC festivals. What captivates my interest lately is how we humans develop both as individuals and groups and how this evolutionary drive affects our ability to learn and integrate NVC into our lives.
