Connecting When Empathy Hurts – Pernille Plantener
On trauma-informed empathy and connecting anyway.
Sometimes, offering feelings- and needs words doesn’t land well. For the receiver, it can feel intrusive and even trigger traumatic memories. What are then our options?
This is particularly important when working in high-tension areas, as Pernille just did when she visited the Middle East. But it also plays out in 1:1 exchanges, that empathy guessing is not always welcome.
Based on Needs-Based Coaching and Resonant Language, Pernille will offer her insights, do a demo empathy session, and the participants can practice a simple way to connect to what matters without stepping over the receiver’s boundaries.
When: 6 March 2026, 16:30-18:00 CET (Berlin time)

About the trainer:
Pernille Plantener
Trainer in Nonviolent Communication, coach and coach educator.
I love my life. When I walk my dog in the morning and see dewdrops on the grass reflecting the whole world, and when the grandchildren laugh with me, I am happy. But it was not always so. I have left the prison of hopelessness and despair that was built by loneliness, a resulting eating disorder, and then an abusive marriage.
Many helpers provided the steppingstones to my life today. Thanks to 12-step programs, Nonviolent Communication, psychotherapists, coaches, and not least Sarah Peyton and her groundbreaking Resonant Healing, today I am a person who can feel, breathe, dance, and make healthy decisions. And I support others on the same path.
I got CNVC certified in 2011, certified as a coach in 2012, and became a Resonant Healing Practitioner in 2020. I’ve been a self-employed coach and trainer since 2013.
