About the trainer:
Jacqueline du PlessisJacqueline du Plessis
Jacqueline was born and raised in South Africa, a country with a history of violence and struggle. At age 18, she left South Africa to study in the USA and received her degree in Social Psychology from the United States and then in 2011 after 9 years abroad, she returned to South Africa. In 2017, she discovered NVC and took her first workshops and courses, including falling in love with dyads.
In early 2020, while in Central America, Jacqueline was accepted for a Masters program in Peacebuilding in the USA, but COVID changed her trajectory and it seemed life had other plans for her. Her almost decade of global travel and life as a digital nomad came to an end. Instead, Jacqueline began to work closely with long time friends and CNVC certified trainers Nic Burnand and Sarah Dekker to expand their work online. Jacqueline again returned to South Africa and also began offering NVC Practice Groups for Compassionate Self and joined the NVC Africa network and community to grow NVC in Africa.
In 2021, after civil unrest in South Africa, Jacqueline was inspired to start a social enterprise called Growing Hope: a peacebuilding and permaculture project initiating food gardens in communities across South Africa to inspire self reliance, food sovereignty and soil regeneration. In 2022, she aims to find sponsorship for 52 permaculture food gardens to be seeded in under-resourced schools in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.
Jacqueline is also is a Singer-Songwriter, and what she calls a Soul Poet and she facilitates sound, music and meditation ceremonies in South Africa: https://www.alohajacqueline.com
