The Self-Empathic Work – María Marta Suárez & Violaine Felten de Arredondo
When someone says or does something that is stimulating for you, intense emotions arise. Your “defence” or “attack” mode may be activated. Deep down, you know that reacting from this energy won’t help to resolve anything.
What will participants learn:
We invite you to come and discover a different way to manage conflicts by embarking on an inner journey of self-empathy through Nonviolent Communication (NVC). We will also explore how some of Byron Katie’s questions can contribute, alongside NVC, to co-create a shortcut that takes us from unmet needs and a sense of scarcity to a deep connection with the energy of abundance and the beauty of needs.
Who is invited: NVC practitioners who have been in contact with NVC for 1 or more years.

About the trainers:
María Marta Suárez
María Marta Suárez is a licentiate in English Language and Applied Linguistics.
Since she was introduced to Nonviolent Communication in 1996, she has been studying and sharing its principles in schools and language academies. Over the years, her focus has been on supporting teachers, parents, and students in transforming the traditional educational paradigm of right and wrong into one based on constructive feedback.
In the last few years, she has embraced a permacultural lifestyle within an ecological community near Buenos Aires, Argentina and has been offering online support through empathic coaching and NVC-based healing role-plays. Through this process, which she calls “Talk to their heart through mine”, Maria Marta helps adults who speak English, Spanish or Portuguese, to have more tools to engage in difficult conversations. You can contact her: mariamartasuarez@gmail.com
Violaine Felten de Arredondo
Violaine Felten de Arredondo, usually known as V. Originally French, she carried out most of her studies in English and has now been living in Bolivia since 2006. She discovered NVC while seeking a heart-based parenting method to raise her daughter. When she read Marshall Rosenberg’s book “Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life”, she suddenly became able to visualize and imagine a different level of connection with her and a different world. That’s how she ended up studying, practicing, and sharing NVC mostly in Spanish since 2016, both locally in Bolivia and online, with the general public, parents and in organizations, through workshops, practice groups and her podcast (available on Spotify: Practica la Comunicación NoViolenta desde tu casa). She delights in sharing people´s wonder and hope when they discover through NVC that there are other possibilities to communicate, resolve problems and live their life! She is a graduate of the NVC Parent Peer Leadership Program and a candidate on the CNVC certification path, as well as trained in Focusing. When she is not studying or sharing these tools, she enjoys practicing qigong and taiqi, gluten-free baking (and eating!) and reading. You can find her on Facebook: Concepto Jirafa or contact her by email: conceptojirafa@gmail.com
